May 2022 - Celebrating Mother and Artist, Julie Ahmad.

"As both a professional artist and a mother, it can be extremely difficult to balance it all… I struggle with this every day as I am juggling between my kids’ crazy school schedules and extracurricular activities, basic house upkeep duties, and my career. I definitely have to compromise my profession constantly, however these challenges in motherhood have made my voice stronger in initiating the distribution of responsibilities between myself and my husband."  - Julie

October 2021 - Spoke on behalf of Abstract Artist, Sevy Marie on Magnolia Networks latest series "Hi I'm _____." airing on Discovery+

The episode follows Sevy Marie Eichner, a 17 year old artist who came from an orphanage in Bulgaria at the age of 12 to live with her adopted family.  Being an expressionist abstract artist myself, I was asked to speak on her art and explain what was it about her work that set it apart from so many others?  And why was there a 2-3 year waiting list to purchase her work, when so many others find it such a struggle in this career?

Today we’d like to introduce you to Julie Ahmad.

Every artist has a unique story. Can you briefly walk us through yours?

From a very young age, my favorite form of self-expression came through clothing and fashion. I loved to dress up. Aside from the fashionista in me, I was Mommy’s little artist. I spent hours drawing, painting, and creating handmade gifts for my friends, teachers, and family. My mom was very encouraging of my art, but I learned to view it as solely a hobby and never to consider it as a viable career choice. Still, I took every art elective offered and enjoyed the praise and recognition that went along with it.

Meet Julie Ahmad

Today we’d like to introduce you to Julie Ahmad.

Julie, we’d love to hear your story. How did you become an artist? What inspires your art?

I became an artist after I had my daughter, Aaliyah. I worked in fashion and dabbled in real estate investing prior to starting my family, but I knew I needed something that would give me the flexibility in order for me to juggle both. I also needed a low-stress job in order to create a healthy environment for our child.

Austin School of Film

October 2018 - Austin School of Film, 2018 Artist Highlight

"[Austin School of Film is] exploring the world of local artists featured at MMAC’s 2018 EAST gallery and their mediums. The goal of this series is to shed light on real-life Central Texas artists exploring what & why they create.

We noticed that you put together a group show to be featured at MMAC’s EAST temp gallery - how cool! Is there a theme for the group show?

Yes, so exciting! I have brought together three very talented female artists―Billie Claire, Haley Lebeuf and Jennifer Pate. Our group is called Femme-Easta, and we have produced a collaborative interactive installation called, “We Have Something to get off our Chest.”  Tour goers are encouraged to participate and support our Indiegogo campaign launching at the end of September."

July 2018 - Featured on Artist's Lane Blog- Artist Spotlight Julie Ahmad

I’m very passionate about social issues around feminism and equality. You can see a lot of my beliefs expressed in typography on my Instagram account, @julieahmad_art. I hope to inspire others to follow their own path and be brave enough to make choices that are right for them rather than what our society deems appropriate or inappropriate. I believe being authentic and true to one’s self will support an individual’s happiness, leading to a healthier and happier world as a whole.

"Today we’d like to introduce you to Julie Ahmad. Julie, please kick things off for us by telling us about yourself and your journey so far.

'I attribute my life as an artist to my daughter. When I was pregnant, I often felt this strong burning desire to be creative and work with my hands. There was some kind of organic correlation between my body being in the state of creation and my heart urging my hands to do the same.'"

December 2017 - Kerbey Lane, Austin Tx.- Kerbey Lane Featured Artist - Julie Ahmad

"An East Coast native, Ahmad grew up in Connecticut and then moved to New York City in her mid-20's to attend the Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT).

Despite her background, Ahmad had never fallen in love with fashion design as a career, but she found that what she learned about the use of color and texture from a design perspective translated into other art forms, and painting became second nature."

August 2017 - Featured in Creative Admirer Blog on local makers

"I've always been curiously drawn to abstract art. When I found Julie's paintings, I connected instantly to her movement and intentionality of color. Living almost a decade in New York City and working in the fashion industry, texture and color are second nature to Julie. The cross over to fine art was natural and it brought cosmopolitan energy into her creations."
